Abstract:
The effect of 304 stainless steel oxidation at 800℃ for 0.5, 2, 10, 25, 100 and 200 h, respectively, on its weight gain, surface microphotograph, composition, and infrared emissivity were investigated in the paper. The results show that, with increasing the oxidation time, the weight gain rate decreased gradually. At the initial stage of surface oxidation, Fe oxide was mainly formed. The surface composition changed from Fe oxide to large flake Cr Mn oxide with the increasing of oxidation time. Polished and unoxidized stainless steel 304 showed low infrared emissivity, the infrared emissivity increased rapidly with the extension of oxidation time.
