Applying CFD to Designing Cooling Fan of Motorcycle Engine

摘要: 运用CFD(computational fluid dynamics)商业软件CFX对某型摩托车发动机冷却风扇内的气流流动进行数值模拟, 发现原始叶片设计的缺陷, 并通过改变叶片形状对原始风扇进行了优化设计。数值分析表明:在不改变曲轴的转速下, 风扇的风量和效率均得到提高。对流过汽缸后的气体温度进行对比测量显示, 改进的冷却风扇使该处的气体平均温度降低1.5℃, 改善了摩托车发动机的冷却效果。Abstract: The CFD (computational fluid dynamics) commercial software CFX was used to numerically simulate the air flow in the cooling fan of a certain type of motorcycle engine in order to discover the defects of original blade design and to carry out the optimal design of the cooling fan by changing its blade shape. The numerical simulation shows that, without changing the speed of the crankshaft of the motorcycle engine, our new design can improve the air volume and efficiency of the cooling fan. The comparison of the measured temperature of air that flows throughthe cylinder reveals that the improved design of the cooling fan lowers the average temperature at the cylinder by 1.5 ℃, thus achieving the purpose of enhancing the cooling effect of a motorcycle engine.
